i am  in London

i am TATE 1

Inspired by the National event, a London forum was held to kick-start a London network in 2000. It produced a working manifesto and a working steering group to direct the forum.

i am TATE 2

Taking up the mantle, TAP joined forces with Helen Shearn- Southwark Arts Manager for South London + Maudsley NHS Trust (SLAM)- Southwark.

Jointly they co ordinated a conference/ forum event to celebrate and promote mental health awareness with other partners including- Mad for Arts, Tate Modern, Arts Council.

Held at TATE Modern and funded by SLAM, Mad for Arts, Arts Council and TATE Modern in October 2004, it exceeded its capacity and attracted approximately 250 people, of which approximately 75% were service users. This was a hugely successful day of live performances; poetry, song, mime, film showings, visual art shows, discussions and workshops.

Intended to re- ‘kick start’ the London I am, approximately 30 people stated they were interested in joining a steering group to harness this enthusiasm and direct a new forum for London. In all a data base of around 300 has now been collated, with interest still being expressed on future events.

From this steering group Creative MindsLondon Arts and Mental Health Forum has evolved
